Russian Banking is Rated among the World’s Top 10 Most Profitable - The Banker

Russian banking system is among the world’s top 10 most profitable in 2014’s Top 1000 World Banks ranking.

Last year, Russian banks made a pre-tax profit of $21.7bn, on par with Great Britain.

Chinese banks remain on top with profits of $292bn (some 32% of all world banks profit), US banks are at #2 with $183bn, followed by Japan, Canada, France, Australia and Brazil. Russia is at #9, ahead of India.

Bank profits in the world grew almost a quarter last year.

Among Tier 1 Capital banks, Industrial and Commercial Bank of China remains #1 ($207.6bn). It also tops the list for assets (over $3 trillion).

Russia’s Sberbank is #34 in bank ratings, one position up since last year. 38 Russian banks are among the world’s Top 1000.
