Medvedev to Host Session on Tourism, Agenda Includes Third Party Liability Insurance

On Tuesday, Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev will host a session on tourism development in Russia, distribution of tourism support functions between federal and regional authorities, improved third party liability for tour operators.

The session is part of Intourmarket-2013 international exhibition in Krasnogorsk, according to the Government press release.

Today, Russia is implementing the Federal Tourism Development Program 2011-2018, creating tourism and recreation clusters, organizing major tourist events, and introducing simplified visa procedures for foreign tourists from safe migration countries.

In 2012, some 28 million foreign nationals visited Russia, including 2.6 million tourist (13% and 10% growth vs. 2011). Most foreign visitors arrived from Finland, Poland, China, Germany, the USA, Great Britain, France and Italy.

A total of 15.3 million Russian citizens travelled abroad in 2012 (6% more than in 2011). Internal tourism in the last 3 years showed an average growth rate of 10% with a rough estimate of 35 million tourists in 2012.
